(COLP)

The Carry-On Luggage Profiler was developed by Phase Laser Systems, Inc. for the airline industry as a definitive means for both controlling and quantifying luggage items carried on board commercial passenger aircraft. As airline passenger traffic has increased, so has the need for regulating the type, size, and number of carry-on luggage items.

United Airlines was the first customer for the COLP unit and also partnered with Phase Laser Systems in the application of PLS’s proprietary laser sensor into a unit capable of quickly yielding the height, width, and length of any given luggage item. The COLP unit is still at the pre-production stage but interested parties are encouraged to contact us at Phase Laser Systems, Inc. at any time.Char.jpg (28395 bytes)

The COLP unit consists of several laser sensors that scan the luggage item as the item is carried through the scanner tunnel on a conveyer belt. The typical scan takes only about three seconds to complete. Another feature of the COLP unit is it’s ability to log scanned luggage information into memory . This information may be downloaded at a later time for statistical analysis.

The same principles at work in the COLP unit could be applied to many different scanning and profiling applications and several are being considered at this time. Please keep an eye on this page as our scanning and profiling product lines grow.
